Losing weight can be quite a daunting task and sometimes even our best intentions can work against us. Skipping Breakfast – This is probably the most common weight loss mistake dieters make. You might be thinking, “But if I want to lose weight, then I’ll have to cut calories. And if I want to cut calories, then skipping a meal is a great way to do that.” The first half on cutting calories to lose weight is correct. But the second half is wrong – skipping a meal, and especially breakfast, is a terrible way to go about your diet regimen.
People who skip meals tend to overcompensate in the next meal, which leads to more calorie consumption. If that’s not bad enough, then here’s more. Crash Dieting – Crash diets vary so much that they can be anything from consuming nothing but juice to eating five bowls of magical “weight loss soup” a day! They usually involve consuming less than 800 calories a day. This typically leads to one of the following two outcomes. It either becomes impossible to maintain the diet for long enough so as to lose weight and, thus, actually discourages the dieter OR it enables the dieter to lose weight which he/she eventually gains back once his/her eating resumes as normal.
